Summer camp overview/schedule:


Morning sessions consists of learning and rehearsing of songs to be performed.
Sessions start at 10am and end at 1:00 for lunch with a break around 11:30.

Music notation, learning by ear, chord charts, song lyrics and tabs ( for guitar and bass players) are used to help the students learn the songs.

During the first session, songs are listened to and discussed to decide which ones can be learned and perform with the one week time frame.
With input from everyone and the band director decision, final song choices are made.

The rest of the week’s morning session will mainly consist of learning adding songs to the set list and rehearsal of previous songs.

On Wednesday, set lists start to form and by Thursday band names are selected. Also by Wednesday and Thursday, performance aspects of the set is discussed and rehearsed.

Friday is spent running through the setlist and then performing in the main studio room with the other bands.

The week cumulates with the performance at The Turning Point on Saturday afternoon.

Afternoon classroom sessions take place in the main studio room at 2:00. Topics could include music(rock/pop) history, music appreciation(exposure to different styles), recording on the computer, analyze specific bands,styles and albums, discussions regarding various equipment for bands. One afternoon is set aside for “Musical Jepodary” which is a big hit with all the kids. Approximately the last 45 mins are use as a jam session which all the kids love!


Winter and Fall sessions takes place once a week for 1 1/2 hours usually on a Saturday. These sessions are only focus on learning, rehearsing and performance of songs. Since the camp is over a course of weeks-- longer, more involved, complex songs can be tackled by the bands. On the last Saturday the bands perform at The Turning Point.
